Our Agency has been certified and licensed by the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) for over 30 years. Our Security Officers are trained by our DPS certified Chief Instructor and have passed an FBI background check . Our training academy curriculum consists of the following;
DPS Armed Guard
•This course is designed for security personnel that will be carrying a sidearm as part of their equipment. Each student will be instructed in firearm safety, laws pertaining to the use of deadly force, mental conditioning and tactics, as well as weapon manipulation and marksmanship. By the end of the course students will be familiar with various types of service weapons, ammunition, firearm related equipment, and tactics. Each student must pass a written examination and a live fire qualification with a service weapon.
DPS Unarmed Guard
•This class is designed for those seeking to obtain their Arizona Guard Card. The class consists of eight hours of contact time where the student will receive instruction in various topics to include laws of arrest, use of force, search and seizure, in addition to a many different forms of criminal violations. Students will also be instructed in proper licensing, uniforms, and grooming standards, as well as agency policies. Additional topics covered in class will be communications, ethics, and responsibilities of a first responder.
DPS Shotgun
*This course is designed for security personnel that will be carrying a shotgun as part of their equipment. Each student will be instructed in firearm safety, and agency policy. The course will also cover proper loading techniques, safe handling, and maintenance of various shotguns. Students will engage in live fire exercise that will assist in the demonstration of various essential and practical shooting skills. Each student must also pass a written exam and a standard agency live fire qualification with buckshot and slug rounds.
M26/X26 TASER
*This course is designed for security personnel that will carry an M26 or X26 TASER ECD (electronic control device). Students will learn the proper nomenclature, function, and use of these TASER devices. Students will also be given instruction in use of force policy, and legal aspects of carrying and using the TASER ECD in a security role. Each student must pass a written examination, and engage in a live fire training exercise. Being exposed to the TASER ECD is not required, but voluntary exposure is available upon request.
OC Aerosol Projector (Pepper Spray)
*This course is designed for the security professional. Training will include the history of chemical projectors, biological and environmental factors, proper use of various OC projectors, legal considerations, and use of force policy. Students will also be given instruction in decontamination procedures, as well as medical conditions that can arise as a result of exposure to OC. Each student must pass a written examination, and participate in an OC contamination exercise.
